About us

foreword

Hi, thanks for taking the time to visit us. If you have a blog, please leave a comment so that I can visit you back. Or simply just to say hi, we are pretty nice.

I am not an expert on early childhood learning, just a mom who loves her kids way too much.

I started this blog to record my children's quirks. It is also a way to repay other talented blogger mom's kindness by sharing what I have discovered  on this journey with my children.

I don't think all children are geniuses. At least I don't think mine are. Some are gifted. Most are average but they are all special.

However, more important than being gifted, I believe is self confidence, diligence and a good heart.

After almost 3 years, I have come to conclusion that:

1. You cannot train your child into a 'genius' but you can teach them to focus and teach them memory tricks.

2. You cannot 'teach' your child to read or count or write but you can teach them to yearn for learning. They must WANT to learn.

3. You must make time for them. Tell them that you love them every, single day. Remind them that they are very important to you. Instill the value of self appreciation so that they don't cut themselves as teenagers. Sigh...

4. Do not use physical methods. It causes submission, not respect.

Please note that most of the post or pictures shown in this blog is a small part of our life. I am not the psycho mom who thinks pushing my children is fun.

It may seem like a lot BUT in real life, we probably spend an hour or so per day to play school. Most days we do nothing at all.

If you are going to spend a lot of time playing, why not learn as you play?

Lil Tiger

Tiger, my beautiful June 2010, Year of the Tiger baby boy.

The reason for my walking, breathing and living.

A highly sensitive, intelligent, OCD, and logical child.
He is my soul mate.

Lil Dragon

A July 2012, Year of the Dragon, darling baby girl.
She is the reason I can champion breastfeeding and co-sleeping.

After she became mobile, I finally understood the need for safety gates, locks, bolted furniture, pull-up diapers, etc. She is such a fireball, fearless, shameless, and oh so bold.

Drama queen. Papa's girl. My baby, forever.

Me

Currently, I am still a full time working mom/general practitioner/wife/daughter/business administrator.

There are all sorts of debate on working vs stay-at-home moms. I choose to work because it makes me a better mother. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my kids to bits but 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and I will be ready to admitted to the nearest psychiatric unit. So, no thank you.

I like making my own money too so that I don't have to ask. Damsel in distress is not my style.

Grandma/MIL

The reason I still have a working and social life since we live together. We have our differences but I couldn't ask for a better MIL.
If it wasn't for her giving up her work-life (voluntarily, of course), I would drop mine in a heart beat.

She is a wonderful person who cares for my children without a single complaint, patient to a fault and as loving as any mother is.

My dear MIL is an ex-kindy teacher who can read Chinese. (thank God)
Did I mention she cooks all the meals too? Lucky me, I know. I don't think she trust my cooking skills anyway.

Hubs
My smart, funny, hardworking, and handsome man.

Of course, there are times when I feel like kicking him in the balls but hey, isn't that what marriage is all about?
For better or for worse, right?

I am not a marriage counselor but I think it is safe to say that you know you've found the right man when:
1. You wake up feeling grateful he is next to you.
2.  Few years into the marriage and you feel yourself falling in love again for the smallest things he did. Like, fixing some stupid thing. Yeah, love makes you stupid.
3. You say, I love you every night. Except when you are reaaalllly pissed.
4. You look at him playing with the kids and you feel that your life is complete.

The Maid/Kakak

We now have a nicer kakak...yay! Lil Dragon loves her waaaay too much (I am a teeny bit jealous, can you tell?)

Our learning spaces:
Our humble abode has become overly child-centric. There is something for the kids at every corner, even my bathroom. You can probably tell I am OCD from here :)

"If a child is to keep alive his inborn sense of wonder,
he needs the companionship of at least one adult who can share it,
rediscovering with him the joy,
the excitement,
and the mystery of the world we live in." --Rachel Carlson
